Pinch of South

COOKING UP CULTURE ONE STORY AT A TIME

Comp 1.gif

About us

We were born from longing. From the quiet ache of a daughter cooking her way through grief.
We are Pinch of South, a Media kitchen where memory meets masala, and grief is tempered like mustard seeds in hot oil. We didn’t start as a brand, we started as an act of remembering. And somewhere along the way, we realised that sometimes a pinch, is all that is needed, to begin a movement.

Shadruchulu

Shadruchulu is a tender food memoir by Deepthi Tanikella, brought to life with vibrant illustrations by Mounica Tata. Rooted in real-life memories and given a fictional twist, the book explores the six tastes of the traditional Ugadi pachadi—sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent, and spicy—as metaphors for the full spectrum of human emotion.

PODCAST

Podcast

What She Brings to the Table is our first original podcast series.
Hosted by Deepthi Tanikella, the series creates a warm, reflective space to gather stories from women whose lives have been shaped by — and have shaped — food. Each episode is a conversation beyond the kitchen—about culture, identity, joy, and resilience.  It’s an effort to build a living archive that captures the emotional, cultural, and historical weight of women’s contributions in kitchens, communities, and beyond.

Telugu Pantry

These are the flavours we grew up with. Spicy, tangy, smoky, earthy we’ve bottled that familiar taste to make cooking easy. No shortcuts, just slow roasted spices and good ingredients.
We started The Telugu Pantry so that anyone can cook dishes like gutti vankaya, karam kura, or a proper pulusu without guessing the proportions or spending hours in the kitchen. Our marinades and spice mixes do the heavy lifting, so you can focus on the joy of feeding and eating.
